Hi!
I am a Development Economist with over a decade of experience dedicated to researching innovations that enhance market efficiency. My work primarily focuses on private sector development, entrepreneurship, labor markets, gender, and social protection.
I am currently a Principal Economist at the International Finance Corporation (IFC). Prior to joining IFC, I was a Senior Economist at the World Bank’s Africa Region Gender Innovation Lab (GIL). In my personal capacity, I serve as a Managing Editor for the Journal of African Economies. I also maintain links with multiple research and advisory networks and am currently a Non-Resident Research Fellow affiliated with the Center for African Research Initiatives (CARI) at John Hopkins, the Institute for the Study of Labor (IZA), the International Growth Center (IGC), and the African Growth and Development Policy Modeling Consortium (AGRODEP). I was recently elected as Associate Fellow of the Ethiopian Academy of Sciences.
